Oh weekend, how I love thee...

Look out, those of you in this world that wish to bring negativity and bullshit upon me, for I have a new weapon. My brother suggests the name "Keef", as in the proper pronunciation of the first name of the legendary and evidently immortal guitarist to the Rolling Stones. I like this idea, but I'm gonna need a bit more time with her/him before I'm sure. I stayed up till five wailing on this bitch last night. I'm pretty sure that a couple years ago God descended to earth, where he took up residence in Mexico, and that on the third day he created this guitar, and he looked and he saw that it was good.

Another shot of her hanging from the wall in my bedroom.

Had a fun and relaxing weekend. Friday went out to see my friend John's new apartment in the Ukranian Village neighborhood of Chicago. Drank some beers at his place, walked around a bit, went into a corner store where all of the boxes and labels of products were in what I guess was Ukranian, which was pretty interesting. Felt like we were in an entirely different country for a minute. The night got even more interesting as we walked into a little dive bar for some drinks. The other customers were older Ukranian regulars, and a very lively crowd of dancing, middle-aged, large black women. Cut to an hour or two later and we're all dancing with them, a sight I WISH I had pictures of for you. Saturday I woke up a little raw, but excited, as my first task was to go pick up my new guitar! It was out at some Chicago-serving FED-EX location, outside of the city. So it was kinda like a little road trip with a sweet prize at the midpoint. I ended up staying in an playing music all night, a welcomed change from the average Saturday night. Caught some SNL too, with Paul Simon as the musical guest. (who I really like) Sunday I got a call from my buddy Patrick to go watch an improv comedy show at Second City at 1:30. I jumped at the chance, especially because I enrolled for a introductory course there that begins very soon. (what the heck, right?) The show had some very funny moments, though it did make me a little nervous too. It must be hard to get up there and risk saying something pathetically unfunny in front of a room full of people. Afterwards, I was examining this weird art exhibit in the same building. It is pictured below. Four generic, digitally modeled individuals look at and speak to eachother on a consul mounted to the wall. As I read the plaque I realized that the words they are speaking are being read from people's online blogs. So you're standing here listening to some simulated female voice saying "Saturday April 13th. I was sweeping the porch when I noticed a mantis in front of me. I hit him with the broom several times and he still didn't die. He must of been on PCP or something." And then a simulated male voice begins, synchronized with a computer-generated image of a black dude. "Friday I met Lindsay at the bar again. This time we went stright to her house and hooked up hardcore." It was a weird exhibit.

Next we headed to an all-u-can-eat sushi place they knew about on Clark street. Damn it was good.

After sushi we parted, each making an effort to remember to call our mothers.

Thanks for visiting!!!
